What to feed a golden labrador?

Could you please tell me what you feed your dog on...i have had dogs all my life that have been bought up on tin dog food and home cooked food and they have all been ok. I have bought a labrador puppy and i have been told by the vet that dried food if the best for your dog but i have had many problems feeding her this, please could anyone tell me what they feed there dogs on and if tin food is good enough, i dont mind cooking for her along with dog food, thankyou for your suggestions
