What books must you read to be considered educated?

OK so I know that this is pretty much an elitist question, and that you don't have to be well read to be intelligent or educated. But I'm interested to know what books people consider 'essential'. I would assume things like, Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, Herodotus, Darwin, Tolstoy, Dickens, Dante, Milton etc. But what do you think? What books would make your top ten that must be read to be considered educated? Title and author please.
