Is it really possible to create a handgun that fires specialized grenades?

Kinda. . .Its possible to make the handgun bullets explode but it wouldn't very destructive/flashy due to its small bullet size. There is guns that mimic it tho. There is shotguns/shells that shoots out explosive rounds like a machine gun and have a decent boom with moderate destructive capabilities,
