Differences of Beelzebub and Satan in Milton's Paradise Lost? RELIGION?
In "Paradise Lost" Milton differentiates between Satan and Beelzebub, but it would seem like he took some poetic license when he made this biblical allusion. Jesus, in scripture, referred to Satan as Beelzebub, which is the Aramaic word for lord of the flies. Many people think that Jesus was the hippie with a gentle effeminate demeanor. Not true, he ruffled a lot of feathers and called it like he saw it: Beelzebub is a vulgar expression which says that Satan not only likes hanging around dung he is the lord or king of the dung heap. Remember, where you see dung you see flies, and when you see sin you see Satan. The name tells you what Christ thinks about Satan and of what he thinks about sin.
